Bis zur Mitte des letzten Jahrhunderts war das Wiess das Nationalgetränk der Kölner und somit der Urvater des Kölschs, wie wir es heute kennen. Ich hätte das Bier gerne gekühlt getrunken aber die Dose war einen Tag nach der Lieferung mit einem lauten Knall spontan explodiert. Den Karton hatte ich noch im Wohnzimmer stehen da ich die Biere erst in meine Sammlung aufnehmen wollte. Wie ich später gesehen habe hat Vault City Brewing sogar davor gewarnt.

For anyone who picked the beer up from a stockist or bottle shop, take it back to the point of purchase and they’ll refund you.

National Anthem Cherry Cola Ice Cream Float Pastry Stout

With National Anthem, we wanted to bring everything we loved about high-gravity pastry stouts into the NA world. Cherry Cola is pretty complex, it's sweet but also sour, when you start to take it apart, there is not only the cherry aspect, well… duh… but there is also a number of spices in there, of course vanilla, but also, sweet almond, kola nut, cinnamon and neroli, the magic doesnt seem to happen until you get some citrus in there, so there is lime, orange and lemon. South of Heaven Red Pilsner

In the mid-2000s I lived just outside of Las Vegas, and, when I wasn't playing an endless stream of stranger and stranger music venues, like Skillet Cafe or Cafe Espresso Roma (incidentally the first ever time I would have a boba tea) some of the best shows I have ever played, and experienced. I didnt have too much more to do with my time but microwave boca burgers or go on long drives into the desert with my buddy Nick. If you want to know what hell feels like, it's the Nevada desert in mid summer.
One afternoon, being a total cheapskate in an off strip bar, I came across a beer called ‘Amberbock’ on draft. In a sea of almost identical American lagers, this was somewhat an oddity. It had a brown/red hue, it was actually pretty flavourful and a complete and utter anomaly. It was also, objectively dirt cheap. I fell in love with it immediately. This slightly fruity malty macro lager.
So here is my retelling of it, half red lager, half Amberbock. If you want a little more grit in your crispy boi. If you want a little less dryness and a little more fruity sweetness. Heck, if you just like to try something that is pretty rare, unfiltered but well conditioned. I know, I know another Slayer reference, forgive me. (Zitat Mash Gang)

We first got into craft beer because we wanted to be blown away by flavour. In the push for more modern juicer/hazier/sweeter/more approachable beers, we felt like we had lost a part of that jaw-dropping, face-slapping experience.

For Cold Coast, we took our Stoop base and added a pretty heavy-handed 10g/L double dry hop of Citra, Centennial, Chinook, Cascade, and Amarillo.
