Craft Market

[vor]

Der dritte Hamburger Craft Market fand auf dem Gelände der alten Rindermarkthalle vom 08. bis 10. Juni in Hamburg St. Pauli statt.

Offline

Offline is the Oedipus version of a white ale. So, it’s a white ale, but you know, different. Offline combines flavors of different grains, Belgian ale yeast and European hops. The body of this beer is made of light barley, wheat, rye and oat malts. It is fermented with a Belgian ale yeast strain, bringing fruity and some peppery notes. Most of the Saphir and Hallertau Blanc hops are added as late and dry hops, and bring grassy and citrus-fruitlike flavor and aroma. Together this makes for a citrusy, fruity and slightly spicy, refreshing beer. (Zitat Oedipus Brewing)

5x Raid

First there was Raid, our staple hoppy lager. Then we went a little crazy and brought you 3 X Raid, a triple hopped explosive update on the original. Now we’re certified insane and would like to introduce you to 5 X Raid – a quintuple hopped India Pale style lager for your enjoyment.
Don’t let the name put you off though. This beer is anything but a hop-burn inducing bitter bomb. More fuller bodied than its predecessors this beer is hella hoppy and with a good dose of bitterness with none of the harshness. There are more floral notes and overall it is well balanced with a full mouthfeel leading to a light but lingering bitter finish. (Zitat To Øl)

The Fabulist

A dank and juicy IPA using Golden Promise, wheat and Cara Munich malts in the mash for a sweetly smooth and hazy body. Bittered lightly with Magnum in the kettle followed by Citra T90 in both the whirlpool and in dry-hopping. We also added T90 Simcoe, Ekuanot, and Mosaic in dry hopping. The aroma/flavour is fruit-filled, dank and resinous, with plenty of tropical mango, passion fruit and pine. (Zitat Magic Rock Brewing)

Heavily hopped in whirlpool and dry-hop at around 13g/l with Simcoe, Amarillo, CTZ and Mosaic Lupulin powder, de-bittered leaf pellets and LupuLN2 pellets. The hops giving familiar citrus and stone fruit flavours with a slightly dank edge. The beer was fermented with London Ale II, which adds a berry/stone fruit aroma and a slightly sweet finish. Botany of Desire

Botany of Desire is a double IPA with heather honey added, the beer was (as far as the honey is concerned) inspired by our love of Bell’s ‘Hopslam’ but we decided to give it a more modern tilt with a smoother, rounder body and more hazy appearance. As with Hedonic Escalation released last month, we’ve used the Brett Trois yeast for a tropical aroma and lightly tart finish. (Zitat Magic Rock Brewing)

Kiwi`s Playhouse

The kiwi fruit is a very odd thing indeed. It’s sweet, tart, playful....but also brown, furry, and supernatural green on the inside. Frankly, the kiwi is altogether weird, but it’s also pretty delicious. Did we go there? We sure did, by peeling an entire pallet-full of ripe fresh kiwi fruit and adding it to a finely tuned sour beer in red wine barrels for a few months. We blended this with another beer that's spent over a year in barrels to add extra complexity, and then re-fermented it all in the bottle.
The result is Kiwi's Playhouse, a strong, playful beer with a distinctly tart edge. Kiwi’s Playhouse sports a bright palate that's dry, full of tropical fruit and more delicious than eye-watering. It's great with everything you want to eat this summer - barbecue, fish tacos, seafood, salads, goat cheeses. Forget the rosé and get yourself into Kiwi's Playhouse. Trust us - it's more fun in here. Sorachi Ace

Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a classic saison, an unfiltered golden farmhouse ale with a wonderfully clean malt flavor and our hero, the quirky Sorachi Ace hop, standing front and center. Dry-hopping releases Sorachi Ace's bright, spicy aromatics to tickle the nose before ascending into a fine harmony between pilsner malt and playful Belgian yeast.
Named after the Sorachi region of Hokkaido, Japan, the Sorachi Ace hop was developed by a large Japanese brewery in the late 1970s. A cross between British Brewer's Gold, Japanese "Beikei No. 2" and the famed Czech Saaz, it had a unique lemony-herbal scent, but this hop was odd and ended up being quickly banished to a laboratory. In 2008, the Sorachi Ace hop was quietly revived by a family farm in Washington State. Less than a year later, we had made it the star of one of our favorite beers ever. Dry, sharp and crackling with flavor, Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is reminiscent of lemongrass, verbena, dill and lemon peels. Originally a member of our limited Brewmaster's Reserve series, Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a beer we just couldn't let disappear. (Zitat Brooklyn Brewery)

Black Ops

Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a strong stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. The myth is that this supposed “Black Ops” was then aged for months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast. Presumably such a beer would raise a rich, fluffy dark brown head and it would combine chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like bourbon notes. A beer like that would be mighty nice, but it would be hard to make more than few cases – it could never be sold or released to the public. They say that the brewmaster revealed the beer to a few other people at the brewery only after it had been barreled. The rumor going around is that the brewery plans to drink the beer themselves over the holidays and give some to their family and friends. That’s what they say. But frankly, there’s no evidence for any of this. This beer is obviously a figment of people’s fervent imaginations. People tend to get loopy around the holidays. Everyone go home now – there’s nothing to see here.
Given this beer’s higher ABV and sturdy character, we think it’s a prime candidate for cellaring. Find a cool, dry spot away from light sources, and see how it changes in the years to come. You never quite know what will happen when you age a beer: perhaps the body will smooth out, notes of vanilla, oak, and tannins will come to the front, or hints of leather and soy sauce will make themselves known. No matter what, remember that beer is meant for drinking, so don’t keep it to yourself for too long. (Zitat Brooklyn Brewery)

Hand & Seal

In the 20th season of his reign, the year Anno Brooklynius 26, our Brewmaster brought forth a new wonderment for the People. Barleywine-style ale, once the exclusive drink of British nobility, would be produced anew in Brooklyn. Linking together their twin brewhouses, the Brooklyn brewing team toiled a great many hours to create the most robust beer they had ever produced. Then it was set to rest for months in casks of Bourbon oak, and finally refermented in the bottle.
The result is one of the richest, tastiest beers to ever emerge from our brewery. The deep flavors of floor-malted Maris Otter barley shine through the layers of vanilla, coconut, toast and floral notes given by aging in Four Roses bourbon wood. Hand & Seal is complex without being perfumey, subtly sweet without becoming cloying. Its naturally gentle carbonation suits a contemplative drink. The size of the bottle connotes a spirit of generosity, for it is an ale to be shared with friends and family. (Zitat Brooklyn Brewery)

Tripel Burner

In ancient Chinese medicine, the “Triple Burner” was responsible for the production and flow of energy throughout the body. The Triple Burner, or “San Jiao”, is not an actual organ of the body, but a sort of "spiritual water wheel” that takes in food, water, light and air, and transforms them into the life force known as “qi”. Tonics supporting the Triple Burner often included licorice root to encourage “natural sweetness and a light, joyful presence.”
We don’t know if it’s all true, there’s no denying that it sounds really cool. And frankly, we think everyone’s "qi” could use a little more balance. White wine barrels, a licorice spice blend from the famed spice wizard Lior Lev Sercarz, and a strong Belgian-inspired tripel base create Tripel Burner, a heady, aromatic ale that reaches a higher state of serenity. "Ein Kriminelles bitte!" Nach fünf Jahren Entwicklungszeit mit vollem Einsatz am Braukessel ist es endlich soweit! Angenehm trüb und hellblond erstrahlt das Bier im Glas getoppt von einer perlweißen, festen Schaumkrone. Der angenehm malzige Geruch wird abgerundet von floralen, leicht fruchtigen Hopfenaromen. Im gschmackigen, feinperligen Antrunk kommen die Karamellmalze zur Geltung.
